Who am I? Good question.

I could display a number of peculiar characteristics that would create a perfect psychological profile or a perfect label of personality.

But the question goes deeper than that.

The person in me that I have access and the one to which others have access are stored in different places of my brain.

I am a different person for each type of circumstances that life presents. That is, a response to the context and the feelings of the moment.

Id est, the person who I am is an impulse, a state of mind. It changes with the wind, with people who I’m talking to, with my mood, with my health, with the moon phases and so on.

This simply means that the person I show to be is just that: a demonstration, a fantasy. But if all I am is this person I show to be, then who really am I?

Even the person that I show for myself is a mere demonstration. It is a moment. A state. That is, the “I” that I myself have access is an illusion! The result of a moment, of  feelings, of my stomach or of some sloppy rationalization.

Personality is a character we created for ourselves believe. How crazy is that? An illusion created by us for fooling ourselves!

I create an illusion of how I am, how I would like to be, how I was or even a mix of it all. So step forward to convince others and myself that this moment, this illusion, this picture, this demonstration, this character is who I am. But that is a lie told many times hoping that it becomes truth, hoping to convince myself and convince others.

However, fits here a question:

There would be “trust in other people” if we did not believe in the illusion that people are immutable things? That there is such thing as personality?

We do not know who we are. And if we ourselves are not immutable and therefore unreliable, let alone the others!
